The whole holiday exceeded everyone’s expectations by miles.

Well what can I say about our Salamander experience, for Roger and I it was all about creating wonderful memories for us and our family and we most certainly did that, the whole holiday exceeded everyone’s expectations by miles.

Our son refused to look at any of the links I sent him prior to the holiday as he wanted to be surprised and he most certainly was. His comment as he boarded the gulet that first evening was one of awe, it really is a most beautiful boat and even though we were the last clients of the season, the boat was immaculate. It provided really comfortable accommodation and more than enough space for everyone. We were so lucky with the weather.  The Crew, were so friendly and accommodating, they really couldn’t do enough for us and most definitely have their own place in our special memories of the week. Captain Gurol took us to some beautiful bays and we even managed to get under sail which was a treat.

Thank you for passing on all the information regarding ‘likes’.  There were pancakes or similar every morning for breakfast which were eagerly devoured.  Charlies face that first evening when we were all served a whole seabass each was one of disappointment until they put his plate in front of him with a perfectly cooked steak – the grin went from ear to ear.  Jake was similarly indulged with his passion for fishing and was taken out a couple of evenings by Veli. He managed to catch a decent size fish which really made his day and then enjoyed the fruits of his labours for supper later in the week.

What can I say about the food, it was of fantastic quality and variety, you weren’t kidding when you said no one goes hungry on a Gulet holiday.  How the Chef manages to produce such wonderful meals out of what I am sure is quite a small galley is unbelievable.

I think you can tell from the above comments that we all had the most marvellous week made even more so by such a great crew who are very much a part of our experience and wonderful memories.

A huge heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Extraordinarily relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

In a lifetime steeped in the love of the sea and boats we have become accustomed to making landfall and dropping anchor in, new to us, pristine bays and beautiful, natural harbours.

Our holiday out of Gocek, Turkey last week, on the magnificent Gulet, Salamander, was a new and different experience.

A highly accomplished captain and crew relieved the guests of all responsibility for navigation and boat handling. Their in-depth knowledge of the coastline ensured that every new day brought exciting and stunningly beautiful landfalls. Around every headland along the coastline was yet another ancient city, fortress or ruin dating back to the Lycian civilization.

The crystal clear water was irresistible and the crew launched sailing dinghies, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling gear to ensure that the guests had an opportunity to have fun and work off some of the amazing food produced by multi-talented chef, Tugay.

This was an extraordinarily relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

So much so that we have already made a provisional reservation with Salamander Voyages to explore more of the Turkish coast in 2025.

Most fun, relaxing and happy time.

Wow, thank you so much for the best week. We had the most fun, relaxing and happy time. The Salamander crew were all absolutely wonderful. Tugay always produced the most delicious meals and catered so well to certain weird dietary requirements! Zeki always found the most beautiful bays and swimming areas with total seamless dockings. Chala always does everything with such a big smile and makes great cocktails. Alpay makes amazing iced coffee and is a fab cameraman for watersports. We all had such a lovely time, thank you!

The crew were faultless.

We had a great time. The crew were faultless.  Easy going. Cabins clean and air conditioned.  Food great and plentiful. The captain booked us into the yacht club mid week – can’t remember where – but that was great.  All else was honestly fab and we all had a lovely week. Have already recommended your company to several friends.

Emma. | UK August 2024 Ya Selam (Turkey)

Reconnecting as a family.

We really couldn’t fault it and had a very relaxing time reconnecting as a family.  We discussed possible routes with Captain Gurol and he definitely chose the right one for us being the Gulf of Gokova, lots of wonderful coves, clear water, able to find quiet spots, and not too much long distance motoring. Meeting up with the our friends worked perfectly and we enjoyed the water sports.  We also had an opportunity to sail.

The crew were great, very professional and helpful and we couldn’t have asked for more.  Delicious food every day from the chef with plenty of variety, quite an achievement when at sea for a week.

Thank you!

Well I don’t think there are enough superlatives to illustrate the marvellous time we had.  Every single member of the family from old to young thought it was the best holiday ever.  Tomas and his crew were so attentive, kind and as for the cooking – amazing!  I could send you endless photos but I will just send you a few and THANK YOU for everything and already we have recommended you.

What a magical week.

What a magical week. Thank you so much Captain Zeki, Chef Tuguy, Alpay and Çaglar and Esin. You have all worked so hard to make the most memorable and happy week. We wanted for nothing and chef, your food was delicious! So many amazing flavours and so much choice. Alpay and Çaglar worked so hard and nothing was too much trouble. All of you just smiled! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It was bliss!

It was bliss! Soaking up the sun, eating our way through breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner(no wonder the paddle board sank when we got on it) sampling your extensive range of wine and drinks, playing with the toys, enjoying the spectacular scenery and relaxing, while everything was done for us.

Nothing was too much trouble. We were consulted about every anchorage, a rescue boat was on hand to pick up tired paddle boarders or sailors(not to mention the odd drifting canoe) and we were treated with such kindness and courtesy by the Salamander crew. David T. UK June 2024 Salamander(Turkey)

Most wonderful holiday.

On behalf of us all, I want tell you how much we enjoyed the most wonderful holiday on Ya Selam last week.  Everything about it, from the itinerary leaving Gocek, to the lovely spots where we dropped anchor each evening, to the superb food – and no one ever goes hungry! –  to the visits ashore were perfect. Of course we all enjoyed each others company on this adventure, but without question this year’s crew led by Captain Girol was excellent – we wanted for nothing and nothing was too much trouble.  We have thanked them, but please do pass on our thanks again when you are in contact.

Another first class week with Salamander Voyages.

Another first class week with Salamander Voyages. Tessa and Kate could not have been more helpful while organising and ensuring all was good while we were on the gulet.

Our first trip in 2019, to celebrate 7 of us turning 70, was to Montenegro and was a truly memorable experience in this very interesting and scenic location.
This time we were on Salamander in Turkey which was equally memorable. Captain Zeki, Chef Ali and crew members Firat and Timor deserve a special mention. They made us feel really special. On this trip we made good use of the water toys, not always with success but always with lots of fun. A couple of our party were not comfortable going into deep water from the Gulet so Captain Zeki would always do his best to anchor close to bays and take them ashore on Tender so they could enjoy the sea water also.
Ali spent a lot of time preparing fresh fruit and veg so we could enjoy fabulous but healthy food so we have to blame the booze for the tight waistbands.

Highly recommend each of these trips!

Kate Thornton. | UK September 2023 Salamander (Turkey)

Second time we have booked and have loved both experiences.

It’s the second time we have booked with Salamander Voyages and have absolutely loved both experiences. The communication prior to the trip is excellent and the holiday itself is outstanding, a magnificent experience loved by our teenagers and adults involved. The crew are excellent and go an extra mile to accommodate any request and the food is AMAZING!

We all loved it and highly recommend Salamander Voyages, we travel a lot and our children would say it’s one of their top 2 holidays ever!

Beautiful, secluded coves.

We have had a lovely time aboard Ya Salem.

The team were wonderful.  The captain took us to beautiful, secluded coves as well as some old ruins so it suited our needs perfectly as we all love swimming and we all love a bit of history (well perhaps not my youngest daughter, but we are working on her.  I think she would have been happier just swimming all day).

The food was delicious.  It was magical to sit out on warm evenings, chatting, eating and watching the stars.

I thought you might like to know that we had a great holiday.

Treasurable memories.

Dear Tessa,

Thank you, Kate and your crew for another fabulous week on Salamander. We all had the most wonderful time and it is a week full of treasurable memories. Your new Captain Zeki is such a charming man, what a find, you must be so pleased to have him as your new Captain. He had a tough act to follow and sorry for the disloyalty but we actually thought he excelled Erkan. Sweet Timour was so observant and had delicious cool drinks, towels, life jackets etc to hand just when we needed them. Just as our previous week Firat was always smiling, polite, helpful and remained calm as he had to rescue various members of our party while they attempted to paddleboard or sail. It was good to see Ali again, his cooking was delicious and such a treat especially for me to relinquish all thoughts of food planning, prep or clearing up! It really is hard to stress what a fun, relaxing, spoiling week we had. We have some photos and videos which we would be delighted to share. Thank you again for a fantastic holiday.

Most incredible time.

We are having the most incredible time, the crew are amazing, so attentive and professional, nothing is too much trouble but hopefully we are very undemanding guests!

We saw the loggerhead turtles today at Dalyan, wonderful, and the tombs, so fascinating.

Ulucinar is beautiful and and the scenery breathtaking.

I have been snorkelling oooing and aaaing at all the fishes and the girls have swum.

Booked for next year as soon as we returned.

We had the most incredible time on the Ya Selam out of Bodrum, sailing around the Gulf of
Hisaronu. The experience from start to finish was nothing short of exceptional.
The holiday proved to be a fabulous family experience. We travelled as two families with 4 adults
and eight 11-20 year olds and the holiday catered to all ages and activity preferences, making it an ideal getaway for every member of the family. Whether we wanted to doze on deck, explore the
coastline by kayak, or waterski and ringo, there was something for everyone.

The food was a true highlight. Each meal was not only delicious but also remarkably healthy, offering
a perfect blend of local flavours and fresh ingredients. Recommendations for meals taken ashore
during the week were also excellent.
The Captain Gurol and his team’s warm hospitality, attentiveness, and expertise truly made the trip
memorable. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone’s comfort and enjoyment, making us
feel like a part of their extended family.

The crystal-clear waters, secluded coves, and stunning landscapes of Gulf of Hisaronu created a
picturesque setting for our journey. It felt like a true escape into paradise.
In conclusion, our Salamander Voyages holiday was an unforgettable – filled with delicious food,
delightful staff, and a fantastic captain. It’s a perfect choice for families looking to create lasting
memories together amidst the stunning backdrop of the Gulf of Hisaronu.
Suffice to say booked for next year as soon as we returned.

Like a dream.

Our week aboard Salamander was simply fantastic! Stunning moorings in bays with cool, clear water. Fantastic waterskiing and paddle boarding and the most delicious food thanks to the chef. Long, lazy days followed by hilariously fun nights that ended with sleeping under the stars. It was like a dream and we all want to return! Thank you Salamander Voyages!

Service – excellent.

Gulet – layout was very amenable for meals, for lazily relaxing and the gulet was kept spotlessly clean.

Service – excellent. All crew members were friendly, helpfully attentive and politely efficient. Special mention should be made of the Chef and Veli. We were struck by the Chef producing a differential menu for each meal and for the food to each meal being consistently enticing.

Sporting kit – the kayaks, paddle boards were all used.

So lucky to find Salamander Voyages.

We were so lucky to find Salamander Voyages.  From the first moment, Kate, Tessa and Peter could not be more helpful.

They found us the right boat for our fabulous trip through Montenegro with a group of 12 friends.

Throughout the build up to the trip they were in touch finding out what we needed and wanted and right up until the last day they have followed up and saw that we were happy.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this fabulous team who are committed to offering exactly what their client wants.

Special mention must be made of our boat crew, Antonio and Martina and Boba our chef were exceptional and made the journey extra special.

Having travelled through Croatia the week before on another trip, and then Montenegro, I would definitely recommend spending more time in Croatia.

Thank you to the team at Salamander for their outstanding service and commitment.

A huge success.

Delighted to say we had the most amazing week on Salamander.

We and all our guests were so impressed with the boat and its ideal layout. The crew were outstanding, all charming and hard working with nothing being too much trouble to help make every day so memorable.

The route we covered was perfect, stopping in so many dreamy bays.

The food was also excellent and varied, which was a joy. Beautifully produced by Ali with a big smile.

So all said, a huge success and we could not recommend Salamander more highly. Thank you so much.

Jeremy ST. | UK June/July 2023 Salamander (Turkey)

We couldn’t have been more impressed…

The boat speaks for itself – a large elegant lady who ably supports all our endeavours – from lavish dining, cocktails where all 10 of us gathered each evening on the rear cushions –  well appointed cabins, to the wide range of fun toys which were universally enjoyed by us all.  Of all the gulets we saw, Salamander was the most beautiful.

But really, it was the crew who made it so utterly special.  They deftly switched roles – laying tables, cleaning rooms, speedily hoisting sales, making Turkish tea and coffee, dropping anchor, only to pull up and move us into a quieter more protected space just a few meters away. Planning our route daily according to our needs and wants. Always being there for every request, smiling!

We couldn’t have been more impressed by them all.

Thank you so much for making our sail so memorable

Jenna ST. | UK June/July 2023 Salamander (Turkey)

Already saving for our next trip.

We had an amazing time on Salamander the whole crew were outstanding, our Captain Zeki was extremely accommodating and found wonderful quiet bays for us, Ali the cook produced delicious meals and a fabulous cake for a joint birthday during our trip. Firat and Timur made delicious drinks and were always happy and cheerful. We were three families and there was lots of space to escape on board. Lots of laughter and fun, we are already saving for our next trip.

Vanessa Vasey. | UK June 2023 Salamander (Turkey)

Continued happiness for us all.

We were fed superbly! Our glasses were kept filled but never pressurised. The toys – dinghies, canoes & waterskiing were very popular. Our itineraries each day were smoothly chosen with Zeki. Continued happiness for us all. Thank you Salamander!

Delightful week.

Zeki, Ali, Timur & Firat are primo! They were constantly cheerful, helpful and efficient in all they did for us – breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, drinks, boat rides, getting down the Kayaks etc. I am sure that all 12 of us on this delightful week in June 2023 would heartily agree.

Most impressed.

Dear Tessa,
I would briefly summarise our experience with Ulucinar in June as follows :
1.  Excellent welcome on board to a most immaculate boat – the members of our party were most impressed.
2.  The crew were very attentive .  The Captain quickly picked up the vibe of our group and realised the sort of places we liked to visit.   He also obliged when it came to doing some actual sailing.   Generally very happy with the crew.
3. We also appreciated having a dinghy on-board – my son had good fun with it.
4. We think the all-in ( other than hard drinks) package arrangement and having  two dinners out works very well.

Clive Vero. | UK June 2023 Ulucinar (Turkey)

The crew made this holiday.

Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Thank you all for such a perfect week on your Gulet.

It is a beautiful boat and your crew are fantastic.

We were very lucky with everything, but I think that you are very lucky to have such a Captain and Crew. They work together so well and nothing was ever too much trouble for them.

There is nothing I can add by way of comment or criticism!

That’s a jolly good accolade!

Luxurious, characterful and authentic..

We have had the best holiday EVER! Salamander is the most comfortable, luxurious, characterful and authentic boat. The Captain and crew were outstanding in their care, attention and kindness, especially towards the children. All the spoiling ‘toys’ on board made the holiday extra special.

I was impressed by the crew and their attention to detail. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and kept the boat and us in good shape. The food was delicious and Ali  a delight. I still think that Salamander is the finest and most relaxing holiday ever ..

Polly Rowan – Hamilton. | UK October 2022 Salamander (Turkey)

Until the next time.

Our third Salamander Voyages holiday did not disappoint. This time was a return to Bodrum and Salamander herself, with many improvements since our 2009 trip. Of special note was the speedy internet. At times it seemed faster than our internet at home! A trip in early October meant that the sea was cooler and evenings on the back of the boat were more windy and therefore chilly but the upside was that instead of struggling to sleep in the heat we all slept soundly, to the lapping of the waves.

Captain Erkan and his team were amazing. Ali, the chef, produced outstanding meals 3 times a day from his tiny galley & everyone  enjoyed each morsel. Our vegetarian was well catered for and allergies watched out for. Our meal midweek off ship was at English Bay was very good too.

Ferat and Alpay looked after our cabins well and kept us supplied with plenty of teas, coffees and drinks throughout the week.

Our group have holidayed together for many years now, but 3 trips on your gulets shows how perfect the recipe is for us. Total relaxation, food and drink on tap, sun, sea & water toys to play with, and most of all being with friends and having fun together.

Once again thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend time on Salamander, we are so glad you own her, and most of all, share her.

Until the next time.

5 star gulet.

So we had the most fantastic week on your beautiful boat – thank you and made extra special by Capt. Erkan, Ali, Ferat and Alpay, together an Olympic team, individually each a winner in his own way. Not forgetting Esin, always available on her mobile and so willing to help.  Below are four testimonials from each of the couples and four pics to join the ratft of wonderful ones you already have;

“We love the boat and had the most fabulous week with lots of fun and laughter, all down to the spectacular team aboard Salamander ably led by Captain Erkan.”

“A stunning boat -and we could not have been looked after better by the Salamander crew. They were excellent in every way and made for us a very special holiday.”

“Salamander, a 5 Star gulet both on deck and below plus lots of fun toys all accompanied by Captain Erkan, his happy and efficient crew and Chef Ali’s amazing food, it makes for a holiday of a lifetime.”

“Salamander is a wonderful boat for a holiday but what makes it extra special is the 5 star crew who, under Captain Erkan look after your every need, the service and attention is impeccable and the food delicious.”

It truly was one of the great holidays, everyone absolutely loved it and there is real clamour to go back again. So watch this space!

On the feedback front, firstly as mentioned it was epic. The boat is glorious – the refurb is amazing. Cabins are cozy and comfy. I love the new bar next to the table out on deck, inspired. The crew were absolutely amazing, every single one of them was friendly, helpful and never got bored of our numerous requests!

No doubt in my mind that we will be back.

Wonderful week aboard Ya Selam.

We had a wonderful week aboard Ya Selam – in spite of a number of concerns about the combined age,  and the mobility of our group, everyone was relaxed and had fun and there was something for everyone, so thank you. Esin was superb and met us with such infectious vitality and sorted out what we needed to know before we departed.  We had chosen a restaurant for dinner on the last night ( a recommendation from a Turkish friend) and she booked this for us. We would say it is essential to do this, because as you know Friday night in Bodrum is very busy! The gulet was so clean and inviting; the cabins were spotless.  The table with fruit and nuts and champagne as we arrived quite set the scene. The crew were very good indeed and very competent and obliging.  Nothing seemed too much trouble, and all done with a smile.  The food was outstanding and varied and nobody was hungry – compliments to the chef. Wine and soft drinks flowed very easily and the crew soon mastered our evening gin and tonic – clearly they had had a lot of practice!

Secluded bays with crystal seas.

I wanted to say how much we had enjoyed our holiday on Ya Selam.   It really was brilliant and the captain/crew etc couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating.    We were surprised how unbuilt up the area East of Bodrum was so we went to some lovely secluded bays with crystal seas to swim in… it was heaven.   The food was delicious and we really felt very well looked after.   It was a bonus being able to watch the Queen’s funeral live … it wouldn’t have been the same coming back home to watch it.

Watched the stars at night…

Dear Tessa,

We are just returning from our week and I wanted to say what a really wonderful time we had – the Salamander and it’s crew looked after us with such care and we truly loved them all. We had to keep pinching ourselves as we swam in the crystal clear water in all those bays, woke to the sunrises and watched the stars at night. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the boys and basically we didn’t want to get off!

One day we would so love to come back and do it all again.

Thanks so much for all your help with everything and hope the rest of your season goes well and more turtle viewing is done!

Very best wishes, Harriet

Family ranging from 83 to 6 years old.

We look back on a most enjoyable holiday with our whole family, ages ranging from 83 to 6. The general consensus is that it was a great success, much of it due to Erkan, Ali, Firat and Alpay who looked after us immaculately and with great good humour and diligence. In particular we very much liked Ali’s cooking, whose meals were varied and delicious, all conjured up from a very hot galley.

We all had a great time and there was talk among the younger members of the family that a another cruise in the near future would be a strong possibility.

Wishing you all the best.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Salamander Experience.

What an amazing week we have had! The clear blue skies have not failed to appear. Ali is an incredible cook and the food has been divine. From relaxing sailing to intense paddle boarding we have definitely been worn out. Thank you to Erkan who was a wonderful Captain and of course Alpay, Ferat & Ali. We have all thoroughly enjoyed our Salamander Experience.

First gulet experience surpassed expectations.

Our time on Salamander was brilliant and definitely made up for the appalling journey out! Your crew are exceptional, looking after us perfectly and the boat was very comfortable, so our first gulet experience surpassed our expectations.
I am not sure if there are any gulets to charter in the Ionian but that is something that would be lovely to experience with our family.  I am sure that Andrew will have some other ideas!

Missing the boat and crew incredibly.

Morning Tessa, words cannot express exactly how much we enjoyed our week on board Salamander. The staff were so attentive to all our needs. Ali’s food was amazing and catered for all our dietary needs. Captain Erkan was so organised and made sure we always visited the best bays, one day we had the sails up and we were lucky enough to swim with turtles. Absolutely wonderful. Ferat and Alpi could not do enough for us. They were all friendly but organised staff. We are missing the boat and crew incredibly.

We are already taking about next year !

Montenegro was beautiful.

Dear Tessa and Peter,

We arrived back Monday evening after a truly excellent and enjoyable week. Everything worked out very well. All five crew under the captaincy of Guner could not have been more helpful and energetic throughout our holiday. We gave them all a good tip. White Swan was very comfortable, the weather perfect  and the food excellent. Montenegro of course was beautiful. Alexandra and Dejan were efficient and helpful too. All in all a great success. At some point we shall be back for more!

Wonderful holiday.

Dear Tess,

We had a wonderful holiday on Salamander. The crew were very polite, helpful and efficient and the food was wholesome, traditional and delicious. We enjoyed our route and found some lovely bays to moor in.
We are quite busy next year but will definitely book again sometime soon.

Very special and memorable trip.

Hi Tessa

Sorry to be late with my reply but we’ve been away Salmon fishing in the Highland’s.

We had a great time aboard Salamander, although now it seems a distant memory. Can you pass on our thanks to Erkan, Ali, Firat and Alpay – they were all brilliant and made for a very special and memorable trip. The Met worked a treat and thanks for the introduction.

Once again thanks for all your help and assistance – very much appreciated.

The most wonderful relaxing holiday.

Dear Tessa and Peter

We did have the most wonderful relaxing holiday on Salamander. The crew were superb and attended to our every need. We could not fault them in any way and indeed we became friends.

We had such a fun time with our friends that we may well wish to repeat the experience.

Thank you for all your assistance which resulted in a great holiday.

High expectations and Salamander exceeded them!

The crew were great throughout. They worked so hard and could not have been more attentive. All the toys were a huge asset for our over active family, totally loved the dinghy sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and water skiing.

All in all we would all agree we had high expectations and Salamander exceeded them, so thank you all for a wonderful trip.  I will start saving in the hopes we can all come again one day. Do keep us posted. Thank you and your Dad for all the great charm you managed to maintain with three years of talking to me!

Another memorable holiday!

Just returned from our cruise around the coast of Montenegro
with family and friends, once again another memorable holiday in a part
of the world which is totally new to us, very beautiful and largely
unspoiled.  The crew were great fun and provided excellent service, how
Mehmet the chef provided food of that quality in such a small galley was
beyond all of us.  As you know we are already discussing another cruise
next year, we hope we can get that arranged soon.  Many thanks for
all your help as usual.

David Davis. | UK June 2022 White Swan (Montenegro)

Totally spoilt.

We really did have the absolute best week on Salamander. Even more of a treat that my parents had the kids, so we could properly relax! We were totally spoilt by the fantastic crew and Salamander really is a very special boat. You have thought of everything.Erkan was such a lovely and calm captain and Ali was a fantastic cook; I definitely feel as I have come back a stone heavier!! Thank you so much to you and your team.

Charlie and Ginny. | UK June 2022 Salamander (Turkey)

Wonderful holiday!

The crew were fantastic. Imir was an amazing chef providing an array of healthy colourful options at every meal. We have left feeling very well fed….in fact I wanted to take him home with me, but his 3 children were a bit of a dealbreaker! Captain Erkan was a great guy and ran the team so well, mucking in when he needed to. The games night he organised was such great fun and it was a real pleasure having him as our Captain. Gokhan made sure everything ran smoothly, meeting us at Hotel Su on the Friday night, then again when we were all onboard on Sunday morning, calling to ensure everything was ok in the middle of the week then ensuring we had a safe departure on Saturday. We felt well looked after throughout.

We hope that one day we’ll be able to return and have another great trip on Salamander.

Michele Rea. | UK September 2020 Salamander (Turkey)

Outstanding as always.

It’s Tuesday morning so I thought I’d report in. All is splendid. Travel was hassle-free, all transits successful, Salamander looking super, Gokhan, Erkan and crew on great form. Food outstanding as always. We even had a grandmother on water skis this morning.

In sum: all is well; and the COVID dramas in the build up are probably adding to the collective enjoyment of actually being here.

Nick Houghton. | UK August 2020 Salamander (Turkey)

Unforgettable.

What a truly wonderful week we had on Salamander.  Our joy and wonder that with the world still under so many C19 restrictions we were able to take off and come out to Turkey continues to amaze us all.

We were waited upon hand and foot and we felt completely safe:  Imir’s cooking was unbelievably delicious – the sight of the table laid with abundance was heaven (especially after months of home cooking – we felt very spoiled). We did indeed chill out – on all those comfy cushions, relaxing and sunbathing, chatting, gazing out to sea …

Then safely anchored everyone was straight into the water- jumping, diving off the stern gangplank and into the kayaks and paddle boarding.

Sleeping on the aft deck was popular but our cabins were reasonably cool, with the fans – the whole experience was just so exciting and it seemed important not to miss even gazing at the starlit sky.

We certainly have had a memorable week on Salamander.

Meanwhile thank you to you and the crew of Salamander- unforgettable.

Liz Workman. | UK August 2020 Salamander (Turkey)

Fantastic sheltered bays.

We had a wonderful holiday, thank you very much.

The captain found us fantastic sheltered bays and moved at the right time (which was important because it was very windy our week). The food was good/excellent. The boat was great and the layout excellent.

We would definitely recommend you to our friends.

Another spoiling week.

Thank you both for another spoiling week on Salamander. We had such a restful time and it was wonderful not to be in the kitchen post lockdown !

Take care and look forward to the next trip.

An unmitigated success.

Safely back at the Tower. Bottom line is that the week on Salamander was an unmitigated success. Hugely enjoyed. The crew were outstanding and it was the quality of their kindness, jollity and attention that was the true discriminator of an exceptional week. Maggie and I mostly enjoyed witnessing the remarkable reaction of our motley crew who were genuinely gob-smacked by the quality of the whole experience. Many thanks. Best wishes for now.

What a Fabulous Holiday.

Dear Tessa, Just a note to say what a fabulous holiday our (“Eaton”) family party had on Salamander, consisting of myself, 2 brothers and their wives, and 3 Australian cousins. The yacht is lovely, and the crew fantastic. Kaptan Erkan was experienced and expert and efficient, Imir an amazing chef who produced meal after meal of absolutely delicious dishes, and Can and Gengis were helpful, quietly efficient and organised, and all of them friendly and yet unobtrusive. I told them that Salamander and its crew is the best in the Aegean! It was stunning along the Turkish coast, and we also went to Symi, but no other Greek islands, because of unfavourable weather there, and we also had to drop off a brother early, which dictated where we could go. It is probably helpful for you to have some feedback, and also to know that we were a very happy group, and delighted with everything about Salamander. Yours sincerely,

A very friendly, tranquil & happy time.

Hallo Tessa, Peter, Jenny & Gokhan, And a huge thank you from me…a marvellous crew all round and a truly beautiful yacht on which to spend such a relaxing time catching up with our cousins… as well as being so completely looked after!! Loved Turkey and its friendly people … the coastal waters are stunning and it was perfect having the two weeks … one would not have been enough!! All the organisation, transfers and everything so much appreciated – a very friendly, tranquil & happy time! Very many thanks and all the best to you all, Cheers

Superb time aboard.

Hi Tessa, Peter and Jenny, This is a very belated ‘thank-you’ for our superb time aboard your beautiful boat ‘Salamander’.  We found the boat most comfortable and well fitted-out, with everything we could possibly need!  Also Turkey was a wonderful destination for our ‘cousins get together’. We all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday – being so spoilt by the quiet attentiveness of the crew.  We felt absolutely confident in Kaptan Erkan, who took us to the most beautiful places and anchorages with great safety!  Chef Imirs’ cooking was delicious – such variety – and so healthy too! – though, always too much!!  Gengis and Can were confident, reliable crew – and after a couple of days knew our favourite ‘tipple’!  The Turkish wines were very enjoyable too!  The crew were all such lovely, friendly people, making us feel so welcome. I hope there will be a next time, not too far away!

Coco (Carole) Pollitt. | 2019 Salamander (Turkey)

Everything ran like clockwork.

Dear Tessa, Peter and Jenny, We all had the most fantastic time and, as I said before, everything ran like clockwork and the crew could not have been more friendly and helpful. Captain Erkan managed to find some lovely spots for us while at the same time as catering for those who can be prone to seasickness. The only slight disappointment was that we were only able to get the sails up on two occasions during the two weeks but we did understand that the prevailing winds were not suitable. Of course we all ate far too much though we did try to justify it by saying it was mostly (delicious and healthy) fruit and vegetables. Imir is a genius working in a comparatively confined galley. Gengis and Can were fantastic too – always on hand with whatever we needed while still working really hard with the deck duties and the “hotel” aspect. We all agreed that it was the perfect scenario for the relatives get together (fortunately we all get along very well) and we all thought it was probably the most relaxing holiday any of us have ever had being able to relax in comfort on the deck with moving scenery to keep us interested. We were probably very boring as far as the crew were concerned! We were pleased we went for the two week option as we were able to cover quite a bit of ground. We all thought a week would fly by too quickly and we would have been limited with the itinerary. On a lighthearted note the only complaint we could think of was the milk jug did not pour very well! Thank you once again for making Salamander available to us and we will certainly sing her praises whenever we can – though we don’t want to make her too popular otherwise we may not find a slot to go again! If we do a get together next year we may have to head nearer to Oz but certainly in two years time we would be very keen to do a repeat on Salamander- maybe from Gocek heading east if possible. I gather Peter is going out in a couple of weeks so hope he has a wonderful time. Many, many thanks once again. Kind regards.

The most AMAZING week.

Dear Tessa, We had the most AMAZING week on Salamander. Erkan, Amir, Ghengis and John looked after us unbelievably well. We were completely spoilt by endless delicious food and drinks and a fantastic itinerary. We sailed, swam with turtles, water-skied, doughnuted, snorkelled, paddle-boarded, canoed and generally relaxed to our hearts content! It was a very special holiday, thank you. Best wishes,

Am not sure quite how to top this.

Hi Tessa, The holiday was fantastic. Your boat and crew were terrific and the organisation of transfers etc first class. Since our return I have gone into PR overdrive for you guys with anyone who will listen! My only problem from the trip – am not sure quite how to top this as an anniversary celebration next August! Best

Cannot be described as anything other than fantastic.

Hi Tessa, We have moored in a bay around the coast from Datca, just wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying ourselves. Erkan and the team are just great, Imir’s food is amazing and just having such a relaxing time. I will want to speak upon our return about another booking next year. The whole experience so far cannot be described as anything other than fantastic. Regards

We want to repeat next year.

Dear Tessa, We had the most fantastic experience on Salamander!  A beautiful gullet (we saw nothing to compare with her beauty), an excellent Captain, chef and two deckhands.  They were charming, helpful and discreet.  The food was outstanding and more than plentiful.  Playing with the toys was great fun and clearly all the crew new exactly what to do to launch this or that toy, water ski, sailing, canoeing etc.  We all felt very safe in their capable hands. We noted that whenever there was an idle moment (not many!) the crew were always setting about maintenance and cleaning.  Everything was clean, neat and tidy. You are fortunate to have such a diligent crew. We want to repeat next year!! We wait to hear from you about possibilities for Bodrum-Bodrum first or second week August.  Thanks for the best holiday ever! Best wishes

Memorable.

On behalf of our group a big thanks for a most memorable week aboard the Salamander. The response from all the group is “great fun and better than expectations”. We were blessed with perfect weather which of course is a huge plus on such a week. The Salamander was presented in very good order or shipshape and Bristol fashion! I have spent some time on yachts over the year and can appreciate the attention to detail and how the captain and crew presented the vessel. She may not be new but she shows extremely well. Like a fine claret. You are very lucky to have such a fine captain, chef and crew. They really were fantastic. 5 stars. I suspect I have interest in securing a week with you in June 2019. Maybe in Montenegro.

Exceeding High Expectations.

Peter,  our party has just returned from our two weeks on Salamander.  I have to tell you that our expectations were high, but they were certainly exceeded in all respects. We all had the most wonderful time on your beautiful boat.    We did not do quite as much sailing of Salamander as we might have expected because of the wind direction and our schedule, which was not a problem, but the Zests were a huge success and we used them continually with 6 dinghy sailors aboard.Your team were superb.     As experienced sailors, we never had anything except total confidence in our captain Erkan and his gentle manner and ready smile were a delight.  We were particularly impressed with his unobtrusive vigilance at all times – gently making sure that our mixed age party was safe and under control at all times!     The crew worked incredibly hard all the time and we wanted for nothing except perhaps bigger stomachs to consume all of Imir’s super food.

Never experienced this type of holiday before.

On behalf of myself and my fellow ‘sailors’ from the cruise Göcek to Bodrum, 7th to 12th October ’18, we would like to thank you and your crew, of Capt. Erkan, Chef Emir  and cabin staff of Yacub and Gengis for giving us such an excellent holiday. It was fabulous. We now know what you meant by it being a tight schedule, but Capt Erkon was very much the expert on movement. All meals were exceptional and cabins and ship were kept tidy and clean. None of our party had any experience of a holiday of this nature, but everyone expressed an interest in repeating this type of holiday in 2 years time.

What a memory.

It is hard to describe or indeed measure our enjoyment of the Salamander experience suffice to say we are still downloading our memories and will soon upload the booking for our second Salamander experience. This was our first Salamander experience and we enjoyed stunning Aegean sailing waters and visiting sites of ancient Turkey from this special luxury gulet. We experienced a unique voyage in an onboard environment of continuous and ever changing relaxation cycles alien to the constant demands of our busy lives. I was surprised that by the end of the week Facebook and Google had shed their addictive hold. Cuisine on board was light and healthy infused with subtle Ottoman and Arab flavours and we were soon into the rhythm of anticipating the next delicious offering from Imir the talented chef whose skills included fishing for the table. The delicious Salamander food experience was complimented by wines chosen with expertise by the owner from Turkey’s stunning new wave of wineries, perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised as Turkey was the birthplaces of wine. The gracious Captain   and his friendly crew created an unobtrusive yet high level of service which facilitated a sense of relaxation and peace punctuated, in our case, by swimming in idyllic coves with turtles and enjoying the sailing dinghies, canoes and paddle boards. The post dinner sing song and story telling ensured sleep came to us easily and soon it was time for the sunrise swim and the cup of freshly brewed coffee awaiting  us as we reboarded refreshed and ready for a tasty breakfast.

We are in heaven and never felt so relaxed.

Just wanted to write and say how absolutely wonderful the Salamander and its crew are. We are in heaven and never felt so relaxed. Totally spoilt and to watch our exhausted children and their partners unwind is such a pleasure for us. We will be a very good advertisement for the Salamander back in NZ as we know a lot of people and we will rave. The kids are already planning their next voyage as we are. New Zealanders are such hard workers and really appreciate the attention from the crew. We feel very lucky.  Thanks again and wish we had done it earlier.

A week of maximum pleasure together in a brilliant environment.

Tonight is our last night on Salamander  and tomorrow we hand over the reins to Erkan and his team for the benefit of you and your family. I wanted to make it absolutely clear to you what a fabulous week we have all had and we want to thank you so much for going so far to ensure we have had such a good holiday. You have created a marvelous mix for your customers and have thought about all sorts of little details down to taking the trouble to choose decent linen and pillows. Of course Salamander herself may not be in the first flush of youth but she is the most fabulous craft and you and the crew have worked consistently hard in keeping the boat up to the best possible condition. Your success is ultimately down to the wonderful quality of your crew. They all contributed so fully to ensuring that we all had such a great time. Erkan your Captain is a brilliant team leader and was expert at leading us through the islands and guiding us in the most charming and patient manner. Emir is a supreme chef preparing all meals with consummate skill and originality. All meals were beautifully and thoughtfully prepared and the standard achieved was consistently high and inventive despite the restraints of a minuscule galley.  The two youngsters Burak and Musa worked extremely hard to ensure that we enjoyed our experience to the highest level and for such youngsters behaved with remarkable maturity in carrying out their duties with good humour, hard work and patience. It was a great pleasure to be in the company of the 4 members of the crew and each of them was always at hand to help whenever necessary. Well done everyone! You have all achieved the success of ensuring that 8 friends have shared the enjoyment of a week of maximum pleasure together in a brilliant environment.

Wonderful.

Peter, Just a little email to thank you and Gokhan for such a wonderful week. We loved every minute of it. So much so that we would love to do it again next year! I know all the reviews talked about the food, but Emir was fantastic and created such a variety of beautiful food. The crew were great. Very hospitable. Thanks Peter. I was right to have such a good feeling about your lovely boat! The toys on board were great. We were wondering if you could put a smaller / shorter water ski on board so that the kids can learn. That would be amazing.

Cara Bradley. | UK August 2015 Salamander (Turkey)

Ridiculously spoilt.

Dear Peter and Gokhan, just a brief email to thank you both for making our holiday so, so memorable! We all absolutely loved our week on Salamander, and we felt ridiculously spoilt by the crew from day one… They are a great team ,and we can’t praise them more highly, they are very professional, and we felt totally at ease in their care all week long. The food was really exceptional, and we were constantly amazed by what Paddington produced out of that galley kitchen…really impressive! The only problem now is coming back to reality…and not having Musa offering chilled drinks at every turn!!! Salamander is a very comfortable and easy boat to live in… we had lots of space, and at no point did we feel overcrowded which is always a concern on a boating holiday, especially with one’s own family!! it just couldn’t have been more comfortable. For me seeing Turkey for the first time was a bonus. What an incredible coastline, and what fabulous spots we stopped in. All in all a perfect dreamy and VERY spoiling week. Thank you to all.

A short email to let you know how we travelled on Salamander in September.  We all had a wonderful time on Salamander the Crew were wonderful and looked after us with lots of attention and care – the food was delicious but of course we over-ate.  The wines were good as well.It was so relaxing to sail the coast of Turkey again my husband and I love Turkey and have sailed the Lycian coast as well. We hope to return one day!!

Simply marvellous!

All the reviews and comments you made meant we arrived with high expectations and they certainly were met and exceeded. We had a simply marvellous time. Gokhan, Erkan, Emir, Jacob and Genghis were fantastic. Quiet efficiency along with discretion and smiling faces. Given it was relatively late in the season it was even more remarkable that they have the staying power. The standards of cleanliness above and below were fantastic and certainly not something we observed on other vessels. It was also incredible seeing how Erkan manoeuvred Salamander in some really tricky harbour situations. I shan’t go on about the food. You have heard it all before. But it WAS FANTASTIC. We saw many amazing things: dolphins, turtles, ruined amphitheatres and much more. Marvellous to have had the sails up several times. This really made the trip. And the toys were great for us all, with quite a few “firsts” for some of our team

That Quake…

We had a wonderful week – very well looked after by Gokhan, Captain, chef and all the crew.We were mostly a bunch of newbies and all of us loved the trip ( “best holiday ever” from the 3 youngest ) and intend to come back and do it again. We had no idea of the earthquake and when we got back to Bodrum all looked to be operating as normal. Thank you Peter for organising a great trip. All very professionally run – and we appreciated the phone calls from Gokhan to double check that all was well and that we were happy with everything. All the best Martin

Spectacular trip.

Hi Peter and Gokhan, Just had to let you know that we’re having a wonderful time. Your crew are all great but the chef is outstanding. This has become a culinary cruise. We’re all saying that your next adventure should be a Salamander cookbook. I would love a copy-particularly the stuffed eggplant, the zucchini fritters and the 4 hour lamb. Oh… and the meat balls. It truly was a spectacular trip and I hope to do it again.. and again.

Hi Peter, Back in Sydney – safe and sound. This is just a short note to thank you and your Turkish operation very much for a job so well done. In addition to yourself (and your tireless efforts over the past two years), I would like to thank your Turk partner Gokhan Bas, Captain 1 Sinan Kirbiuik, Captain 2 Erkan Madak. Chef extraordinaire Emir Gerok and exemplary rouseabout Güven Alper. The (literally) last minute lifting of the ‘6 nautical mile exclusion zone’ surrounding ANZAC Koyu, made the whole enterprise worthwhile.

Time of our lives!

Hi Peter and Gokhan, Just a note to tell you that the Bolca party is having the time of their lives! Emir is creating the most fabulous meals. 3 generation BIG birthday.

Dear Peter, All I can say is ‘WOW’. We had such a brilliant time on Salamander. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we couldn’t have wished for more. Your crew certainly bent over backwards to make us happy. We ate, swam, sailed, kayaked, water skied and had a happy time every day. Florence the 2 1/2 year old became a water baby and loved the sea. Henry the baby shouted a lot! However, he loved his paddling pool and much appreciated the high chair. I do hope we may make it back for our 50th wedding anniversary in 2018. Please convey our grateful thanks to everyone.

Why Salamander is better.

Dear Peter, Having been on a number of gulet holidays with different providers, I wanted to let you know why we find yours smoother, more personal and more relaxing. The reason is simple, everyone’s lives are so busy and stressed today, so arranging and enjoying great holiday should not involve either. Uniquely the Salamander formula requires no filling in of menus for every meal (months in advance), no need to decide what your wine quantities are or to argue about sale or return, or choose a brand of soap, no constant badgering about medical insurance, no need to collect copious quantities of Turkish lira to pay for extras when trying to pack for departure in a hot Bodrum, and above all no need to decide your itinerary in advance with insufficient information available. Hallelujah! Your excellent team deal with all of this locally with enthusiasm and without fuss. Your prices are inclusive of almost everything. Each meal offers endless choice of dishes, the wines are inclusive, and we were able to choose our favoured itineraries and flex them as we went, whether in Turkey or Greece. Salamander is a great and beautiful boat with excellent food and a professional and friendly crew and thus a fantastic holiday. We relaxed all the more because we had no decisions to make! Keep doing what you are doing please. Happy days, happy holidays
